How Your Home Generator Will Work
Powered by natural gas or propane, your automatic home electrical generator is connected to an automatic transfer switch (ATS) that is connected to your main electrical panel. If you lose power, the ATS activates and begins collecting power from your generator and sending it back to your main panel. Presto! Let there be light! When your power comes back, the transfer switch will automatically shut off and the power source will revert back to your main electric panel.
