What’s Included With Indoor and Outdoor Lighting Services?

Lighting projects can involve much more than changing a fixture. Adding lights in a new location may require wiring, switches, electrical boxes, or changes to an existing circuit.

Heritage provides indoor and outdoor lighting services for new installations, replacements, and lighting upgrades.

Depending on the project, service may include:

A licensed electrician can evaluate the existing wiring and determine what is needed to complete the project safely.

What Indoor Lighting Can an Electrician Install?

Indoor lighting affects how comfortable and functional a room feels. Some rooms need bright task lighting, while others benefit from softer general or accent lighting.

Heritage can help homeowners install or replace lighting in areas such as:

Lighting options can include ceiling fixtures, recessed lights, pendant lights, chandeliers, wall-mounted fixtures, and other residential lighting products.

If a fixture is being added where no light currently exists, an electrician can determine how to route the wiring and install the electrical box, switch, and other components needed for the new location.

What Outdoor Lighting Can Improve Your Property?

Outdoor lighting can make it easier to move around your property after dark and illuminate areas where additional visibility is helpful.

Common outdoor lighting projects include:

New Hampshire weather is also an important consideration for exterior electrical work. Outdoor fixtures and electrical components need to be appropriate for exposure to rain, snow, moisture, and changing temperatures.

A licensed electrician can make sure fixtures, boxes, connections, and other electrical components are suited to their location.

What Are the Signs You Need Lighting Service?

Some homeowners call an electrician because they want new lighting. Others need help because an existing fixture has stopped working properly.

Consider scheduling lighting service if you notice:

A problem that appears to involve the light fixture may actually come from the switch, wiring, circuit, or another electrical component.

For broader electrical problems, Heritage also provides electrical repair services throughout New Hampshire.

Can You Add Lighting Where There Is No Existing Fixture?

Yes. Many lighting projects involve adding fixtures to places that do not currently have them.

An electrician can evaluate the room or outdoor area and determine how to supply power to the new fixture. The project may involve running wiring, installing an electrical box, adding a wall switch, or modifying an existing circuit.

This type of installation can be useful when:

Heritage provides electrical installation services for projects that require new wiring, outlets, switches, circuits, and other electrical components.

How Do You Choose the Right Lighting for a Room?

Start by thinking about what you do in the space. A kitchen countertop needs different lighting than a living room, hallway, or bedroom.

Most home lighting falls into three general categories:

Many rooms use more than one type. A kitchen, for example, might combine recessed ceiling fixtures with pendant lights and under-cabinet lighting.

Placement also matters. Adding more fixtures is not always the best answer if the existing lights are poorly positioned. Planning fixture locations around how the room is used can create more useful lighting.

Why Should an Electrician Install Your Lighting?

Replacing some bulbs is a simple homeowner task. Installing or changing hardwired fixtures involves the electrical system and can present shock or fire risks when done incorrectly.

Professional lighting installation may involve checking:

Heritage Home Service provides this work through licensed professionals and holds New Hampshire Electrical License #0316C.

Homeowners also receive upfront pricing before approved work begins, so you can understand the project and cost before moving forward.

How Can Lighting Updates Improve an Older New Hampshire Home?

Older New Hampshire homes can have lighting layouts designed for a very different way of living. A room may depend on one central fixture, have few switches, or lack lighting in places where today’s homeowners need it.

Updating the lighting can provide better visibility without requiring a complete renovation.

Common updates include:

If an older home’s wiring condition is uncertain, Heritage also provides electrical home safety inspections to identify potential electrical concerns.

  • Can Heritage replace old light fixtures?

Yes. Existing indoor and outdoor fixtures can be replaced with new fixtures. The electrician can also inspect accessible connections and mounting components during installation.

When my AC quit suddenly, Heritage came in a timely fashion and did an excellent job. The four gentlemen who helped me were professional and knowledgeable. Joe diagnosed the problem and was very thorough in explaining the cost of repair versus replacement. Bobby, Harrison and the electrician Liam did the replacement and were wonderful to work with. They explained the process carefully, answered all my questions and completed the job efficiently and quickly. I would certainly call the company again for any HVAC, plumbing or electrical needs. Thanks Heritage!

First time using Heritage, as two other plumbers I’ve used in the past gave me long lead times. Heritage answered my call personally, and scheduled me same day-amazing considering it was a Saturday! I had a leaking outdoor spigot, and given the drought, waiting a week to fix it was out of the question. The technician sent out, James Shallow, could not have been more professional, knowledgeable and personable. He showed up on time, did the job seamlessly and without issue. He spent time educating us as to how to avoid this problem in the future, and it was a genuinely pleasant experience. I will most definitely use & recommend Heritage again (request Jimmy).

Alex came to fix a water main leak at my home which was pre-manufactured in the late eighties. He found and fixed the leak quickly. After the job was complete I spoke with him about the cause because this is the third time in a year with a leak. He spent the time with me explaining the material used for piping in my place and checked the water pressure. The pressure was on the high end and we both concluded between pressure spikes and old plastic pipes. I asked for an estimate to replace all the pipes. He was able to give me an estimate on the spot and found financing with very reasonable terms. Two days later Heritage Home Services was here with two trucks and completely changed out the piping in a day. In short. This place answers the phone. Gets technician on the job quickly. Great knowledge. Cleaned thoroughly before leaving.

I’ve dealt with Heritage for many years because of their dependability. They are not the cheapest, for sure, but if you need a plumbing or HVAC system installed or serviced/repaired, there’s none better. I needed repairs to be done on slim duct covers that were damaged after having siding installed on my home. I called Heritage because they were the company that installed the original mini-split system in my house several years earlier. John Lindonen and another technician (unfortunately, I don’t remember his name) showed up as committed and did the repair work. They were very thorough, explaining every issue to me and answered all of my questions. They were polite, and extremely knowledgeable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these guys to my family or friends.

He was professional, informative, and transparent so Heritage, please acknowledge his great service!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are common signs my air conditioner needs repair?

Common signs include warm air blowing from the vents, weak airflow, unusual grinding or squealing noises, frequent cycling on and off, water leaks around the unit, or a noticeable increase in your electric bill. If you experience any of these, contact Heritage for a diagnosis.

  • Does Heritage repair all brands of air conditioners?

Yes, Heritage technicians are trained and equipped to repair all major air conditioner brands and models, including central air systems, heat pumps, and ductless units. We carry common parts on our trucks to complete many repairs in a single visit.

  • How much does air conditioner repair cost in New Hampshire?

Repair costs depend on the nature of the problem, ranging from simple fixes like a capacitor replacement to more involved repairs like a compressor or refrigerant leak fix. Heritage provides an upfront diagnosis and transparent pricing before beginning any work.

  • Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?

If your AC is over 10 to 15 years old, uses R-22 refrigerant, or the repair cost is more than half the price of a new system, replacement is usually the smarter financial choice. Heritage can help you evaluate your options and recommend the most cost-effective path forward.

  • How can I prevent air conditioner breakdowns?

Regular maintenance is the best prevention, including changing filters monthly during cooling season, keeping the outdoor unit clear of debris, and scheduling annual professional maintenance. Heritage offers maintenance services to keep your system running reliably through New Hampshire’s summers.
