Furnace Repair Services
When to Call Heritage For Furnace Repairs
No Heat Blowing: No hot air may mean you need to change the air filter. If replacing the filter doesn’t fix the problem, you should call a professional to inspect your furnace.
Drastic Temperature Changes: If you suddenly feel cold air when the furnace is running, you should turn off the heat, wait five minutes, and then turn it back on at 4-5 degrees higher than the current set temperature. If this doesn’t work, try changing the thermostat batteries. If you still get sudden bursts of cold air from your furnace, call for repairs.
System Won’t Turn On: When your furnace won’t turn on, that is usually an issue with your pilot light. Your pilot light should be lit all the time, so you should reset the furnace if it ever goes out. If the pilot light doesn’t relight when you reset the furnace, call Heritage for help.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What are the signs my furnace needs repair?
Common warning signs include unusual noises like banging or squealing, uneven heating, frequent cycling, a yellow or flickering pilot light, cold air from vents, rising energy bills, and strange odors when the furnace runs. If you notice any of these, contact Heritage for a professional diagnosis.
-
Does Heritage offer emergency furnace repair in Maine?
Yes. A furnace failure during a Maine winter is urgent. Heritage provides emergency heating repair services so you can restore warmth to your home as quickly as possible. Contact us immediately if your furnace stops working or you suspect a safety issue.
-
How often should my furnace be serviced?
Heritage recommends annual furnace maintenance before each heating season. Regular tune-ups catch small problems early, improve efficiency, and reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns when temperatures drop. A well-maintained furnace also lasts longer and operates more safely.
-
Should I repair or replace my furnace?
If your furnace is under 15 years old and the repair cost is modest, a repair is usually the better option. If the unit is older, requires frequent repairs, or has a cracked heat exchanger, replacement is typically more cost-effective. Heritage will give you an honest recommendation based on your system’s condition.
-
Can Heritage repair all furnace brands?
Yes. Heritage’s licensed HVAC technicians are trained to diagnose and repair all major furnace brands and models, including gas, oil, and electric furnaces. We carry common replacement parts to help resolve many issues on the first visit.
