Regardless of whether your basement is finished or not, Heritage Home Service is here to prevent you from dealing with a flooded basement. For over 30 years, we’ve worked with all kinds of homeowners across New Hampshire to install and service sump pumps and basins, keeping them high and dry all year long. FAQs

  • New Hampshire Sump Pump Installation Services

When you need a new sump pump, trust the experts at Heritage Home Service. Our technicians will come to your home and make recommendations for installation, sump pump replacement, or sump pump maintenance based on your exact needs. Because we work with multiple sump pump makes and models, our team has the most experience to help you make the best decision for your home.

  • Prevent Water Damage With a New Sump Pump

Homeowners in the Northeast know a solid-working sump pump is more than a luxury — it’s a necessity to prevent major damage. If your sump pump isn’t working as efficiently as in years past, or it’s over seven years old, it may be time to consider a new system for your home. Some of the advantages of a new sump pump include:

    • Preventing foundation damage: When your basement floods, water can seep into your foundation and create unseen (and costly) damage. Mitigate potential water damage with the installation of a new sump pump.
    • Protect your home from mold and mildew: Moisture in your basement can encourage mold and mildew growth in walls, leaving behind unsightly stains and creating a health hazard. A new sump pump stops growth and keeps your home safe.
    • Reduce termite and pest infestation: Wet foundations and walls create an inviting space for termites and other insects to invade your home. The right sump pump can help your home stay pest-free while protecting your home’s value.
    • Mitigate radon hazards: Radon gas can grow to hazardous levels in your basement when water and moisture are present. A new sump pump keeps both the water out and reduces breathing hazards in your home.
    • Control humidity issues: If not addressed, standing water can evaporate and create an uncomfortably humid home. Avoid water collecting in the walls and the unwanted humidity with a new sump pump.
  • The Sump Pump Installation Process

When you’re ready to install a sump pump in your home’s basement, we’re here to make it an easy process! Our expert technicians have installed sump pumps in homes across New Hampshire, so we know how to make the process easy for your family. Our process is quick and easy:

1: Dig a hole and install the liner: This is the first step. We’ll create a hole to install the sump pump and install a liner to ensure the water stays in the chamber.

2: Create a perimeter drain system: A perimeter drain system will help guide any standing water into the pump, leaving your home high and dry.

3: Install the sump pump: We take our time to carefully install the sump pump correctly, making sure everything works properly and water is getting whisked away.

4: Repair your basement floor: Once we verify everything is working properly, we’ll clean up our mess, leaving your basement floor looking better than before.

  • Signs Your Sump Pump Needs Repair or Replacement

If your sump pump is doing any of these things, it could be a sign you need to Just Call Heritage and get it replaced or repaired today.

    • Loud noises (like grinding or rattling), or no noise at all during weather events
    • Noticeable vibration coming from the sump pump
    • Running continually — even when it’s not raining or snowing
    • Running longer than usual
    • Visible rust on the sump pump
    • Irregular turning on and off, even when it’s raining or snowing
    • Your sump pump is over seven years old
  • What Is a Sump Pump? How does it work?

Installing a sump pump is one of the easiest ways to protect your New Hampshire home from water damage throughout the year. A sump pump is installed into the lowest part of your home’s foundation or basement, with a perimeter drainage system designed to channel all the water into your pump. From there, the pump works to send the water out of your home, draining it back outside to prevent flooding in your home.

  • Types of Sump Pumps

There are three primary types of sump pumps Heritage Home Service can install into your home. We’ll assess your basement or foundation to determine which one would work best for your needs, and make recommendations on proper installation, operation, and maintenance schedule. The three different types of sump pump are:

    • Pedestal: With a pedestal pump, the motor sits above the water line on a pedestal, while the pump stays submerged. When a float is pushed upwards, the pump goes to work removing moisture from your basement. These pumps are often easier to install than submersible pumps, making them a great value choice.
    • Submersible: As the name suggests, these pumps are designed to go under the water collecting in your home to drain it outside. These pumps are quiet, efficient, often more powerful than other pump types, and are ideal for homes with a danger of basement or foundation flooding.
    • Ejector: While pedestal and submersible sump pumps are designed to get excess moisture from your home, ejector pumps are designed to push wastewater out from basement drains into the sewage line. These pumps help you effectively move water from toilets and washing machines to their proper destinations, ensuring that wastewater doesn’t build up in your home.

New Hampshire Sump Pump Repair Services

If a sump pump fails, it can be bad news for your basement. With many New Hampshire homeowners spending the money to remodel and make their basement livable, imagine the damage that could be done if it floods.

Ensuring your sump pump is working as intended and is ready to handle water flow is critical to protecting your investment. Some of the most common repair calls we receive include a sump pump’s motor failing or performing poorly because it’s not sitting in its pit properly.

Called on a Thursday with an active leak…actually a drip…found by luck on the cellar floor. Vinny showed up less than 24 hours later, and after diagnosing the issue found the problem. It wasn’t what I thought, but his perseverance paid big time dividends. On a Friday early evening Vinny made a trip to a Home Depot 30 minutes away, and when he returned the problem was solved in 30 minutes. Heritage upgraded our electrical system from 100 amp to 200 amp, and installed a whole house generator for us during the winter, so we were very familiar with the company. I can’t say enough good things about their workmanship, their customer service, and their professional employees. I would be pleased to have Vinny come back should the need arise. He was great!!
